COVID-19 and other Health Guidance

In order to keep NBFA staff and students safe, it is important that you continue to monitor your child(ren) closely for any of the following signs and symptoms:
  • Fever (100.4 and above)
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Body aches/Fatigue
  • Loss of taste/smell
If any of these symptoms surface, please keep your child home, get them tested and/or see their physician.  Please do not send sick children to school.
MASKS are not required but strongly encouraged to be worn by all staff, student and visitors to NBFA.
QUARANTINE and CONTACT TRACING is no longer required at this time in the school setting, when one is considered a "close contact".  Please assume that your child(ren) will be exposed daily; hence the encouragement of mask wear.
For individuals who TEST POSITIVE for COVID-19, please do the following:
  • Contact me in the health office at 203-384-2897 ext. 142.  If I don't answer, it is okay to leave a detailed message and I will return your call as soon as I can.
  • Expect to ISOLATE for 5 days.  Submit either a picture of your positive test or lab test results to excuse absences.
  • Return to school is permitted on day 6 and a mask is required until after day 10.
  • Siblings who reside in the same household are permitted to come to school, but must wear a mask for a full 10 days.
  • Please note: For the positive individual, negative tests are not required to be able to return to school.
For individuals who have been EXPOSED to a positive COVID-19 case, please do the following:
  • If symptoms are present, please immediately quarantine for 5 days or until a negative COVID-19 test is received.
  • If no symptoms are present, please remain isolated from positive case and wear a mask for a full 10 days.  (COVID-19 testing strongly encouraged on or after day 5)
Please see the Illness Guidelines below!
The illness guidelines above also explain what is required of a student who has been to the doctor or emergency room for any reason.  Safety is our goal and communication is key.  Our goal is also to have your child(ren) in school every day, all day.  Good attendance produces great scholars!
