New Beginnings Family Academy Early Learning Center is a tuition-free public charter school pre-K program serving children ages 3–5 and their families in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Summary: 

This grant-funded consultant role will strengthen recruitment, enrollment, and community outreach efforts to ensure eligible families learn about—and can successfully enroll in—our Early Learning program. The Recruitment & Community Outreach Consultant will lead a targeted, culturally responsive outreach to increase awareness, referrals, and enrollment for our Early Learning Center. The consultant will guide families through the recruitment and enrollment process and strengthen relationships with community partners. This results-driven role blends relationship-building with hands-on recruitment strategies, enrollment support, and consistent follow-up to help ensure eligible families successfully enroll. 


Reports to: NBFA’s Interim Director


Principal Responsibilities: 


1. Community Outreach & Recruitment

Develop and execute a recruitment and outreach plan aligned with grant goals, enrollment targets, and eligibility requirements.

Identify, build, and maintain relationships with community partners (e.g., WIC offices, libraries, health clinics, faith-based organizations, community centers).

Represent New Beginnings Family Academy Early Learning Center at community events, resource fairs, neighborhood meetings, and community partner locations to promote enrollment.

Coordinate outreach campaigns using culturally and linguistically responsive materials and messaging (flyers, tabling materials, social media content, partner toolkits).

Implement strategies to reach priority populations, including multilingual households.


2. Enrollment Support & Family Navigation 

Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for prospective families by responding to inquiries, scheduling tours and information sessions, and clearly communicating next steps. 

Support families in completing applications and assembling required documentation (e.g., proof of age, residency, immunizations, and other program-specific requirements). 

Provide individualized follow-up to reduce “drop-off” between inquiry and enrollment and ensure families complete the process in a timely manner. 


3. Internal Collaboration 

Coordinate with Enrollment Coordinator to maintain waitlists, enrollment offers, and timely placement to meet and sustain full enrollment. 

Collaborate with NBFA’s leadership to align recruitment messaging with program offerings and family needs. 

Participate in regular check-ins with NBFA’s leadership to review metrics, troubleshoot barriers, and adjust strategies. 


Work Expectations & Professional Standards: 

Maintain confidentiality of child and family information in accordance with New Beginnings Family Academy policies and all applicable funder requirements. 

Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with families, community partners, and NBFA staff. 

Complete all required background checks and mandatory trainings (e.g., child safety, mandated reporter training) in accordance with state licensing requirements and/or program policy. 

Use inclusive, culturally responsive, and accessible communication practices to effectively support families with varying literacy levels and languages. 
Requirements
Required Qualifications: 

Demonstrated experience in community outreach, family engagement, enrollment navigation, social services, or early childhood recruitment. 

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with diverse families and community stakeholders. 

Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally; comfortable presenting in community settings. 

Strong organizational skills, follow-through, and ability to manage multiple outreach activities at once. 

Experience tracking outcomes and completing reports (basic proficiency with spreadsheets and databases). 

Ability to work evenings/weekends and travel locally to partner sites/events. 

Commitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed, family-centered practices. 



Preferred Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

Experience working in early childhood settings (e.g., child care, pre-K, Head Start/Early Head Start, family support programs). 

Bilingual or multilingual skills strongly preferred (e.g., Spanish, Haitian Creole). 

Experience developing and implementing outreach campaigns (e.g., social media, printed materials, community presentations). 

Knowledge of local community resources and referral networks in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
