Opened in September 2002 offering grades K-3, New Beginnings Family Academy (“NBFA”) offers active and engaging learning experiences from Pre-K through 6th grade. NBFA is a tuition-free, public charter school proudly distinguished by:

Reports to: Food Services Manager
Position Summary: The School Cook helps ensure that all eligible NBFA students receive nutritious meals in accordance with local state and federal health and education law.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Food preparation and service of food as determined by the Food Services Manager
• Assisting with the development of healthy monthly menus for the program
• Inventorying of foods and kitchen supplies
• Occasional coverage for vacations and holidays as determined by the Food Services Manager
• Prepare kitchen, cafeteria or other space as required for serving and consumption of food
• Clean and organize all kitchen areas and food storage areas
• Maintain records to substantiate daily student meal charges
• Maintain and control adequate food and beverage inventories
• Various tasks and special junctions/events as assigned by the food Services Manager

Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
• High School Diploma required, higher education preferred
• Have at least 2 years of experience cooking in a school environment
• ServSafe certified or ability to become certified
• Food preparedness experience required
• Must hold a valid driver’s license
• Knowledge of food allergies and food allergy preparation
• Work cooperatively and collegially with cafeteria and school personnel
• Be honest and trustworthy and maintain the highest levels of professional standards
• Be willing and able to multi-task
• Be able to lift 30lbs
• Be able to handle loud noises
• Basic math and food measurement skills
