Get to know Mrs. Haley

About Me:

My name is Octavia Haley and my journey began with NBFA in 2012 when my 3 children attended the school as students. I was a very involved and wanted to be a part of what I saw taking place here at NBFA.  In 2014, I officially joined the NBFA team. Since then, I have had a few different roles and served in various capacities. This year I have the most wonderful and exciting opportunity to reunite with many of the students who started at NBFA with me as their 7th and 8th grade science teacher.

Outside of work, I still often find myself around children. I also enjoy reading, swimming, marine life, and traveling. I love the theater and performing on stage. I also volunteer at the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium. I have a Bachelor's in Child Studies at Charter Oak State College and I am currently pursuing my Master's at the University of Bridgeport. I have always worked with children in education or the mental health field. I am a lifelong learner who plans to continue my education.

Why New Beginnings Family Academy?

Within the walls of NBFA, I have found a place where I can be myself and be comfortable. More importantly, I chose NBFA because of my own biological children. It was here that I found a team that was willing to work with me and my child’s needs. So I strive to provide the same opportunities to other students and their families.

I stay at NBFA simply because I care. Children have taught me that when they know someone cares for them, they will willingly open their hearts and minds to being taught. I show them I care by forming relationships and helping them to find their inner strength to believe in who they are. I will patiently await that opportunity so that I can help students to see their true value in life.

A Note to All May Precious Students

"You Can"

If you think you're beaten, you are...

If you think you dare not, you don't...

If you like to win... but think you can't...

It's almost a cinch, YOU WON'T!!

If you think you'll lose, you're lost...

For out in the world you'll find...

Success begins with a fellow's will...

It's all in a state of mind.

If you think you're outclassed, you are...

You've got to think high to rise...

You've got to be sure of yourself before...

You can ever win the prize.

Life's battles don't always go...

To the stronger or faster man...

But sooner or later the one who wins...

IS THE ONE WHO THINKS HE CAN!!!
