I began teaching at NBFA in the fall of 2015 as a first year teacher. Prior to working in Bridgeport I had the opportunity to student teach in two inner city public schools. Initially, I worked as a student teacher in a first grade classroom in the Bronx. I then completed my second placement in an alternative public school in Harlem. During this period I was immersed in an inclusive setting that emphasizes an inquiry based, responsive approach to classroom teaching. This experience gave me insight into the Progressive Pedagogy our school has adopted. Outside of school I love to hike, read and spend time with family. I adore all animals and have a dog, Millie, and a rabbit, Mia (our class pet!).
Why New Beginnings Family Academy?
I believe in an emotionally responsive approach to progressive education. This pedagogy recognizes the connection between a child’s emotional well-being and their learning potential.
