Ms. Abbey Assunto has been a part of the NBFA academy since 2005. She is currently teaching 2nd grade. She has previously taught 3rd and 4th grade math and a third grade self-contained class. She has a passion for learning and will take any opportunity to grow personally and professionally. She is a life-long Connecticut resident and attended Newtown public schools. She received her Bachelors of Science degree majoring in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Connecticut. During her studies she found a passion for teaching and working towards closing the Achievement gap in public schools. Upon graduating from UConn she pursued a career in education. She earned her certification through the elementary education program at Western Connecticut State University.
